In 1955, active oxygen was first brought into a liquid, lasting form and used as an antibacterial formulation.

Physicians and clinics determined that ozonid-containing salve causes sterility of the skin within 2 minutes. Observations showed that skin burns will be pain-free within 10 to 20 minutes after application of ozonid-containing salves, and that they healed quickly and almost without scarring. Due to the medical success, the cosmetics line Saneo2 was developed - the only cosmetics with active ozonid oxygen.

Why is active ozonid oxygen so good for the skin?
In the course of its life, your skin must be able to adjust to many different environmental influences and strains and to regenerate time and time again. This ability to adjust and regenerate depends on the metabolism performance of vital skin cells and their circulation

The oxygen vital for cell metabolism is transported in the blood, converted in cell metabolism and the metabolites are removed by the blood to be "disposed of" in the kidneys. One focus of medical research for decrease of age-related changes of the skin is on micro circulation and oxygen transport. In nature, the element of oxygen, however, only appears in several physico-chemical forms. For living cells, only oxygen naturally bound to the hemoglobin of the red blood cells is important. In cell metabolism, the particularly reactive oxygen (active ozonid oxýgen) is preferred. This form of oxygen is, e.g., also contained in fresh fruit and dewy grass (Kneipp).

In 1995, the effect of active oxygen in Saneo2 was presented to an audience of specialists on the Ki-Live in Wiesbaden by Dr. med. Rainer Klopp of the Institute for Micro-Circulation in Berlin. The focus was on the optical appearance of skin and showed the reaction after application of active oxygen. Using an intravital microscopic examination unit with secondary computer-supported image processing and handling, Dr. Klopp was able to show the micro-perfusion of the blood by representative geometric and dynamic features.

This means that the active ozonid oxygen in a suitable formulation can improve skin micro circulation and thus dermal metabolism with a cosmetic product. This will support the natural regulation and defense mechanisms of the skin.
